Graeme B – Hybrid Learning 2020

Graeme B – Hybrid Learning

Graeme became unemployed in 2018, after working as a barman from 2005. He became unemployed due to a relocation to another part of the country. Graeme now wants to move into a new sector preferable in a role similar to his RSPB volunteer role.

I had previously completed the Returneeship in January 2020 and was contacted by Release Potential, I put myself forward to complete Customer Service Level 2 through a remote learning platform. The course gave me the chance to interact with others during the Covid-19 lockdown. I felt nervous initially as I hadn’t worked through distance learning before and I was using a smart phone as I don’t have access to a laptop or computer.

I learnt very quickly how to communicate remotely which was a “big learning curve for me and a great achievement”. By completing this course it has given me a confidence boost in my ability to use new software, to interact with people from different backgrounds.

Overall “I feel I have more motivation to move forward, a more positive outlook about the direction i want to move into and the ability to research to achieve my goals.” I am now going to continue to look for a role where i can work outdoors, something similar to my volunteer role as a Reserve Warden/Learning Assistant with RSPB. “I believe that nothing is impossible with the right guidance and support, i think everyone should do this course if they have the facility to do so!”
