Amy Wall – Kickstart Success Customer Service

Amy was hoping to gain some new experiences and skills to help with finding employment, and though she was nervous felt this course was the right place for that. Read Amy’s story below!

What were you doing before you started the programme?
Previously, I had done some training with Skills Training UK and had gained some experience from working in a warehousing setting. I had been unemployed since November 2021 before starting the course.

How did you find out about the training?
My Work Coach, Jaz sent an email about it to my journal. I also spoke to Stephen and Dan from Release Potential to get more information about the course and liked the sound of it.

Why did you decide to join?
It was something new, a chance for a new experience, and to hopefully gain some skills to help me get a job. It was also something to do instead of just sitting at home.

What did you think of the training? How did it help you?
The team exercise was good for everyone to get to know each other. We shared lots of ideas on the course and everyone participated. It was delivered in a helpful and lively environment. Sometimes I can struggle with my mental health, but Humeira was an amazing tutor. She listened to me and helped me, and I can only thank her for that.

Were there any barriers or obstacles you had to overcome?
Not really, I just wanted to try and find a job.

What are you doing now?
I was nervous when I went for the interview, but I’ve been successful in gaining a Kickstart placement as a Neighbourhood Services Customer Contact with Walsall Housing Group. It’s a customer focussed role. This week is induction and I meet my manager next week.

What impact has the training had on your life?
The course has been very helpful, and I’m pleased I completed it. It will help me in my new role. I feel like I’m starting a new life in a new job and I’m excited to get started!

What are your plans for the future?
I going to give it my best shot over the next six months, and I’m hoping that if I do well there might be the chance of a permanent contract with Walsall Housing Group.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the training but wasn’t sure?
I would highly recommend it. It’s a good opportunity to gain some skills and experiences. It also gives a boost to your self-esteem, confidence and helps you get somewhere.
