After hearing about Release Potential from his uncle, who did another one of our courses, Kaine decided he wanted to experience something similar. The course allowed Kaine to learn some new skills and learn about different tools needed to run a business, and since completing the programme has gone on to start work as a Warehouse Operative. We wish Kaine the best of luck with the position and his plans of building a business in the future!
What were you doing before you started the programme?
After taking my GCSE’s, I went to Sandwell College to study engineering but left early to start an engineering apprenticeship, but I left this too. I needed to look for something that was more me which led me to music. I learned from a professional producer and now produce my own music and have my own music studio. I worked for APC through an agency as a warehouse operative for a period but was seeking employment before I joined course.
How did you find out about the training?
My Uncle did a Returneeship with Release Potential, and he told me about his experience on that course. I wanted to do something similar too. This led to me asking my Work Coach, Alex about what I could do. Doing something similar was an opportunity I wanted to take.
Why did you decide to join?
I knew through word-of-mouth recommendation the course would be good for me.
What did you think of the training? How did it help you?
I’m an outgoing person and enjoyed the team activity. The course itself taught me some new skills – such as how to build a website. I’m more aware of the tools you need to establish and run a viable business having taken part in the training. I felt at ease on the course, the atmosphere and environment helped me to flourish. It put me in the right frame of mind to learn which is important.
Were there any barriers or obstacles you had to overcome?
Not really but I did want to gain some new skills. I had never taken ICT seriously before, but this time I was ready.
What are you doing now?
I’m about to start a new job as a Warehouse Operative with Magna, the chocolate manufacturer, and I’m looking forward to it.
What impact has the training had on your life?
It’s helped to make my life more peaceful. At the time my head wasn’t in the right place.
What are your plans for the future?
Anything is possible in life. I aspire to build a number of businesses. I also like helping people and would like to help to give other people opportunities.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the training but wasn’t sure?
Do it! It’s a good experience with a good group of people and will help you move on.
