After finding themself unemployed following a redundancy, L.P. was speaking with their Work Coach when they were told about the course with Release Potential. Feeling that they had nothing to lose by joining, L.P. got in touch and enrolled on the course! Quickly realising the benefits of the course after some intial uncertainty, L.P. found the course interesting and learned how to approach job applications differently.
Though L.P. ultimately decided that a Coaching & Mentoring role wasn’t for them, they were still able to take away the things they learned and apply them to job applications for other types of job roles, and was even able to secure employment! Congratulations, L.P.
What were you doing before you started the programme?
I was doing some home study with a focus on my family following redundancy which resulted in unemployment.
How did you find out about the training?
My Work Coach Luke mentioned to me about the training. He gave me details sharing what is was about, how it was different to things I may have studied before and what I could get out of it.
Why did you decide to join?
I felt I had nothing to lose and it was a great opportunity for new learning and to develop some new skills.
What did you think of the training? How did it help you?
Initially I was unsure the Coaching & Mentoring Level 3 course was right for me. Quickly I realised the benefits, and although had to back track on work sometimes to catch up, Jaleesa my Tutor was fantastic with providing ongoing support. It was a great chance to learn new things not previously known about, meet new people and gain new experiences.
Were there any barriers or obstacles you had to overcome?
Juggling my home life with kids was hard at times, but the ability to access the material outside the core attendance times really helped. I was able to contact Jaleesa or others in the team if support was needed and the assistance and guidance was always there to get me back on track.
What are you doing now?
I’m working as a Billing & Revenue Assistant
What impact has the training had on your life?
The Coaching & Mentoring aspect was really interesting and gave new insight into the approach to take. However, it did confirm for me I was more interested in another type of role. This is partially confidence based, but I feel I would still be able to put this into practice in a work setting if needed.
What are your plans for the future?
I’ve learnt nothing is forever so I have an open mind about the future. I would still consider other options at a later date, but with a real focus around being able to spend quality time with my children alongside my role.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the training but wasn’t sure?
100% definitely give it a go. The structure although regimented is excellent. It’s not just an addition to yoru CV and gaining a qualification. it’s still a fun experience with some great engagement with new people in the group.
