What were you doing before you started the programme?
I was unemployed after being made redundant from my Job Coach role with Mencap.

How did you find out about the training?
My job coach Georgina from West Bromwich Job Centre told me about the training and she said it would be a really beneficial course for me to attend to support with my search for employment.

Why did you decide to join?
I was keen to keep occupied and fill my time with developing myself. I wanted to continue with learning that was available, and also to ensure no gaps were on my CV. The training sounded really good so I decided to give it a go.

What did you think of the training? How did it help you?
The training gave me loads of confidence, especially when focussing on interviews. When providing answers I felt more sure about what to say, and was able to give good examples, whereas before, I’d been a bit stuck at times. The information I was being given felt really relatable.

What are you doing now?
I’m working as an Assistant Project Worker at Barnardos, Sandwell. West Bromwich.

What impact has the training had on your life?
I feel like I’ve learned lots of new information, especially around General Data Protection Regulation, (GDPR) and information security which I had no idea of before. The training has been a great confidence builder and has given me far more self belief of what I can achieve. Before the training I was being declined following interviews and this seemed to change once I’d done more learning and had more idea.

What are your plans for the future?
Not sure what the future holds but I feel optimistic it will be positive.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the training but wasn’t sure?
You’ve nothing to lose. It’ll change your life.
