What were you doing before you started the programme?
I was made redundant about 7 months before being introduced to the Release Potnetial course.
How did you find out about the training?
I was told about a Job Fair via Compass Support, part of the Pioneer Group. Whilst at the Job Fair I got chatting to the hosting team who introduced me to some of the presenters including Release Potential. The details were shared with me about what the course involved by Karl from Release Potential.
Why did you decide to join?
I had such low self esteem and nervousness about applying for jobs. Being made redundant had really taken it’s toll. The details I was given really helped me unblock any doubts I had by removing the barriers I had put in place for myself. It sounded like such a fabulous experience and I felt I could get lots out of it.
What did you think of the training? How did it help you?
If I had done the course 20 years ago I would have been in a much stronger position. It was so informative and helpful. Mentally I went back to the study/exam mindset and was cramming in information knowing what I could get out of it. It was so much fun. The past year has been a rush and the course was the same. I felt like a sponge taking on board as much of the details as I could. James my Tutor was fantastic, he really got us involved. He was so encouraging and checking in to see we understood. Some of the classes were huge with lots of participation. The numbers were high over zoom, but the opportunity to connect with so many people was great, despite being out of my comfort zone. I got so much from it although at times a little overwhelmed it was still worthwhile.
Were there any barriers or obstacles you had to overcome?
I hadn’t prepared myself for how much work was involved. During the day was great but wanting to do my best and deliver the coursework was hard at times. I really could see the value it was adding and constantly had a smile on my face.
What are you doing now?
I’m working as a Customer Service Advisor with BT in Birmingham City Centre which has brought a whole new lease of life.
What impact has the training had on your life?
The impact has been life changing. So many positives.
What are your plans for the future?
I want to enjoy my contract for the year it runs for and explore other options and departments that may be available to me once this finishes. What I’ll learn will help me prepare for the future.
What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing the training but wasn’t sure?
Go for it. Release Potential will release yours. It helps you dream, opens your dreams and makes you realise what you can achieve.
