So what is an Apprenticeship?

As an Apprentice; your Apprenticeship will combine practical and industry recognised learning and qualifications i a real job with study time. As an Apprentice you will be a real employee earning a wage and getting holiday pay. You will work and learn alongside experienced staff gaining job specific skills and you will get at least 20% of your normal working hours as study time.

As an Apprentice Employer; you can enhance the skills and capabilities within your organisation and build a workforce that will take you successfully in to the future.  You will help your Apprentice gain qualifications, skills, knowledge and behaviours that you need. Adult Care Worker Level 2 (ST0005)
This qualification will provide all the key skills you need to work as a Care Assistant, Care Worker, Support Worker, Personal Assistant, Relief Team Worker, Support Worker – Supported Living, Key Worker in Residential Settings, Key Worker in Domiciliary Services, Key Worker in Day Services, Home Care Support Worker, Substance Misuse Worker, Learning Disability Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Mental Health Outreach Worker and Re-enablement Worker

The Apprentice will typically take between 12 and 18 months, will be delivered within your employers workplace, and is externally assessed.

You will achieve the Level 2 Diploma in care as well as your Apprenticeship certificates on successful completion of this standard. Where appropriate, you will also need to achieve Level 1 English and Maths and take the tests for level 2 (this is dependant on your individual qualifications and needs)

This Apprenticeship can offer you a gateway to progression into further career and learning opportunities such as lead care worker



Lead Adult Care worker Level 3 (ST0006)
This qualification will provide all the key skills you need to work as a Care Officer, Care Supervisor, Senior Care Worker, Supervising Care Worker, Senior Support Worker, Relief Team Leader, Social Work Assistant, Social Services Officer, Outreach Development Worker, Community Support Worker, Community Outreach Worker, Community Development Worker, Family Support Worker or Personal Assistant. These could all specialise in a variety of areas such as learning disability, mental health, drug and alcohol misuse, homecare, dementia and end-of-life care.

The Apprentice will typically take 18 months, will be delivered within your employers workplace, and is externally assessed.

You will achieve the Level 3 Diploma in care as well as your Apprenticeship certificates on successful completion of this standard. Where appropriate, you will also need to achieve Level 2 English and Maths (this is dependant on your individual qualifications and needs)

This Apprenticeship can offer you a gateway to progression into further career opportunities such as management or senior support roles


Business Administrator Level 3 (ST0070)
This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviour you will need to operate effectively within  small and large businesses alike; from the public sector, private sector and charitable sector. Developing working independently or as part of a team and will involve developing, implementing, maintaining and improving administrative services.

The Apprentice will typically take between 12 and 18 months, will be delivered within your employers workplace, and is externally assessed.

You will undertake project work focussing on your employment role and be awarded your Apprenticeship certificates on successful completion of this standard. Where appropriate, you will also need to achieve Level 2 English and Maths (this is dependant on your individual qualifications and needs)

This Apprenticeship can offer you a gateway to progression into further career opportunities such as management or senior support roles



Team Leader or Supervisor Level 3 (ST0384)
This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviour you will need to operate effectively within small and large businesses alike; from Supervisor, Team leader, Project officer, Shift supervisor, Foreperson, and Shift manager. Entry requirement for this apprenticeship will be decided by each employer, but may typically be five GCSEs at Grade C or higher. This will be discussed with you and your employer during Apprenticeship planning

The Apprentice will typically take between 12 and 18 months, will be delivered within your employers workplace, and is externally assessed.

You will undertake project work focussing on your employment role and be awarded your Apprenticeship certificates on successful completion of this standard. Where appropriate, you will also need to achieve Level 2 English and Maths (this is dependant on your individual qualifications and needs)

This Apprenticeship can offer you a gateway to progression into further career opportunities such as management or senior support roles



Learning and Development Practitioner Level 3 (ST0562)
This apprenticeship will equip you with the skills, knowledge and behaviour you will need to identifying learning / training needs, designing / sourcing training and learning solutions, delivering and evaluating training, and working with stakeholder / business area managers.  The role focus is often on the practical delivery of training. L&D Practitioner will typically have expertise and competence in their specific field whether it be technical, vocational or behavioural

The Apprentice will typically take between 18 and 24 months, will be delivered within your employers workplace, and is externally assessed.

You will undertake project work focussing on your employment role and be awarded your Apprenticeship certificates on successful completion of this standard. Where appropriate, you will also need to achieve Level 2 English and Maths (this is dependant on your individual qualifications and needs)

The successful apprentice may be eligible to apply for Associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CPD) or any other professional body that recognises this apprenticeship within its membership criteria (membership is subject to the professional bodies own membership requirements).
